Long time no see

I haven't updated this blog since...since forever! I had even forgotten my password!!!

A lot of things have changed, but since this blog is not about my personal life I will just say "life sucks sometimes, but I'm still alive".

Toy-wise, what have I been doing? Well, a couple of commission dolls and toys and even a commission christmastree! Yes, a small BLACK table xmastree, decorated with hand-sculpted skulls and such. It was for a tattoo and piercing parlor. :) I only have one blurry shot of it, but I'll show it to you anyway. I'll put all the pics in the end of this post, cause there are many.

Right now there's a Living dead dolls custom competition on the official LDD-forum, and this year I participated too. It should be easy enough to spot my gory entry, although the names of the artists aren't revealed until the voting is over.

I have also joined Turku's dollhouseclub, which gathers once a month to make miniatures for dollhouses. Lots of fun! ^^ And I've also made a little house ofr my petite blythes out of a yellow lantern I bought for a couple of euros. I made it almost disgustingly cute. And oh gosh, I started crocheting too, even though I never liked crocheted dollclothes before. I guess I need to make these pink happy things to keep a balance, all that blood and gore demand something cute and cuddly. Or...that's what I keep telling myself to avoid the thought of a split personality xD.

I have had some trouble bonding with Honey. Mainly because the character isn't my own, and on the other the character I wanted him to be is much more sunny and brave than Latigreen Senny's features able him to be. So... I re-did his face, or I guess I should say Her face now: I turned Honey into a fragile vampire girl :).

Does any of you know anyone who collects stickers? I got all my friend's stickers that she collected as a kid. I think I have almost one kilo of vintage stickers :D. I already picked some pretty looking normal stickers, but I have plenty of commercial stickers, cerial box stickers, bubblegum stickers, candy stickers and collectable stickers like Asterix and Alf stickers and others. There were also some old Nintendo cards in the bag. Nostalgic Mario! Oh, and some celebrity and sportsmen stickers as well. If you know someone who might be interested, let me know. I'm not going to throw these away but don't really need this collection either.

Here's how the new dead girl looks at the moment.

She was a pirate doll with a peg leg and hook hand, so I had to sculpt new limbs for her. The commissioners wanted a sad face and a gory body, they also wanted one blue eye and one brown. I will add more rotten colour on her later and sew her a dress.

Finally you get to see some pictures of my dollhouse, but only the exterior and the family I made to live in the house. I'm currently working on the bathroom and bedroom, it's much more difficult than I expected but it's a lot of fun as well. I also have 3 commissions and a painting to do now! Art art art :)!

I made the dolls so that their arms and legs are bendable. The idea came when I realized my dolls would have to be able to sit on their knees, because the tea table is so low. I think they came out quite funny, although I'm still not sure if I should add black hair for the father and the mother. What do you think?

I got my doll house kit today, but haven't opened it yet AND I also got my 4th bjd, LatiGreen Senny, which I made to be a boy called Haninozuka aka Honey-sempai ^^ He's obviously inspired by one of my favourite animes, Ouran High School Host Club, there's this adorable boy called Honey who love cakes and sweets and has a pink bunny toy. My Honey hasn't got any clothes yet, but because I can't wait to show you, he's borrowing Cain's shirt. His hair needs styling as well.

...you never know what happens next. We were supposed to get a puppy in the autumn, we were on the waiting list for Kuuhaukun old line husky puppy, but then it happened, that a 4 month old old line puppy from Austria was looking for a new home. He was already in Finland, but the owner's husband was seriously allergic so they had to give him up asap. So... he came to live with us. Now we need a bigger apartment before next year, he's already quite big even though he's just 4 months old.

His name is Fiandor of Celtic Wolves, we call him Kendo. He learned to love us in a day (he came yesterday), but he can't stand being alone for one minute :(, I missed my exam today, because I could hear Kendo barking, howling and punching the door far, so I had to turn back home before neighbours give me a goodbye-card....

But here he is:

New hobby

So... I decided to start yet another dolls and crafts related hobby: dollhouses. I've already bought a house to start with, but it hasn't arrived yet. In the meanwhile I've been planning the interior. At first I wanted to make a huge antique mansion, but after browsing dozens of dollhouse pages I decided not to, because 99% is doing antique mansion style already. So I'm starting with something different. Although I'm pretty sure that at some point I will have to make my own mansion anyway :D....

So, cause I lack patience, I've already started to make some stuff for the house. Here are my first tiny bits: tea set, tea table and a small shelf. It was a lot of funto make these, although I haven't worked with glue and wood since elementary school. I don't like the plates I made of Fimo, I could've made them much more carefully... I do like the teapot, though.

I made two more cats, Mia and Jane. They are both masked colourpoint cats, Mia is the purplish one and Jane is the brown one. Now I will give these little cats as Easter presents :). I'm giving sour Margaret for my mom and Mia for my granmother, Joy, Jane and Fiona will be sent to Denmark for Martin's (my boyfriend) mom, granma and sister. ¨

Me and Martin are taking the train to Kolari tonight, and my parents will come and take us to Muonio. So Martin is gonna meet my parents for the first time, very exciting! I'm gonna take Martin to a snow mobile ride, ice fishing contest and to sauna, of course. Happy Easter, everyone!

I'm sculpting some dolls at the moment, it's fun :) I'll take pics when I get to finish all of them.

You enjoy staying in your own little world for hours, doing things that other people don't always understand. The finished product can be wonderful but you have to do it on your own time, without outside pressure. When you're bent on something, no one else can distract you.

King Void and Queen Distress

So, I got to finish the royal ghost a couple of days ago, but wanted to make a romantic photoshoot in the sunset, so I had to wait a bit for a perfect weather . But here we go:

King wanted to live forever with his love. The story goes that he chopped down some branches of the tree of life to grant himself and his queen an eternal life, but it was against the rules... so he got cursed, and was given the eternal death. He aged fast, became pale and weak... a white tree grew out his chest... and his speech became hollow, howling and whispering. His queen, still young and beautiful, was so sad about what happened to her love, that she decided to jump off a cliff. But they were bound together by love... so her soul couldn't rest either. Years passed and people forgot their real names... now they're only known as King Void and Queen Distress.

Yesterday I talked with this very nice lady that asked to see some of my work. I didn't know what to tell her, my website isn't very nice and it only shows my darkest arts. So I decided to open my livejournal to outsiders as well. I figured it would be a nice way to show people what I'm doing, and if anyone is interested of my work, they have an easy way to contact me and see how the works are coming along.

I also gathered some random pictures of all of my arts here, so take a quick tour!

I have always loved drawing.....

....and painting...and mixing all sorts of things.

I started to customize toys by altering My little ponies.

Then I made a zombie pony, and got so many comments about it that I decided to make more horror-related toys.

Hehehee, I'm having a "productive Friday". I washed Ebony's hair today, so I decided to make a little picfic too :)

Ebony: Thank you Laura for inviting me to your relaxing jacuzzi.

Ebony: ...although... this isn't a jacuzzi, the water isn't bubbling, it's just soap.
Laura: Then let's call it swimming pool with soap bubbles...

Ebony: You can't possibly call this a swimming pool, there's not enough water to swim.
Laura: But this is still nice, and smells good too :)

Laura: Where are you going?
Ebony: Thank you for mentioning the smell, I don't want to smell like cheap parfume, so I'm leaving.

Laura: But I just ordered a drink!
Ebony: You know... my granpa owns a private beach... you can actually swim there...

Ebony: ...and inside the beach house, there's a Real Jacuzzi... you know, the best beauty salons in the world are near my granpa's beach.

Laura: But I bet the best organic drinks are right here! Come on, you're here now, not at your granpa's place. Have a drink!
Ebony: No thank you. I think I'll rather call my granpa to send one of his private jets to take me to his beach house.

Laura: But see, you can go there anytime, but spending a day at my jacuz...I mean bowl with soapwater...it's a one time chance!

Towards a custom twopack part 2

Here's how the ghosts are coming along. The paint isn't completely final (At least I'm going to fix king's paint a little more). I'm not going to show you how the crowns I made of wire look in the ghosts' heads, I want to root King's hair first! This weekend I don't have to go to work or study so I will hopefully get these two almost finished. I've already bought the fabrics for their clothes too :)

First of all I'd like to start by saying that the exam I had went very well. I got a 5, which is the highest grade. Hooray :)!

Now to my doll news. My first Takara Blythe is here. Meet Ebony von Eden :)

Compared to an ADG, Takara Radiance has a different head shape, higher quality eye-chips, although I thin ADG pink is nicer than Ebony's salmon colour. Pink and orange eyes are straightforward, ADG has a downward gaze. Takara plastic is better quality and very shiny. The hair has a greasy feeling, I'm not sure if that's nice or not. Make-up is good (ADG's is removed because it was terrible)

As I planned, Ebony or Ebony von Eden as I named her, is the diva and ADG redhead is natural and more down to earth.
Now I can say that Takara Blythes are BETTER, I didn't want to say this until I've seen both in person. No more ADG's for me, but I still like my Laura very much.

I'm making my first official commissioned work now. It's a ghost couple King Void and Queen Distress. Idea and concept are mine, for my client didn't have any othe specific wishes than that she wants a two-pack of dolls.

Make-up removed. They were originally Dr Dedwin and Nurse Necro.

The idea was to make a hollow chest for King Void and a screaming ghost face. I wanted Queen Distress to wear a really worn out corset with maggot holes, a corset that's been misshaping her body for hundreds of years. I also decided to make the queen a bit shorter than the King, because I didn't want it to be obvious that the doll mold is exactly the same. It would also add feminity to her. So...next step: cutting.

I wanted the King to have a dead tree inside the hole in his chest, the white tree of death. I decided to also make the corset by sculpting, for it is too hard to make the holes and such in fabric without too much damage. (As if my sewing skills would be good enough for doll-corsets anyway...)

Next: painting, sealing, rooting, clothing, accessories....

Here's a teaser of King Void's paint, picture is quite bad cause the paint was still wet and it was night so the lighting sucks...

Oh and one more thing... I argued with my boyfriend... and after he apologised he thought he should make it up for me... foolish man...so he googled the name of the doll I've been talking about for a while now and ordered it for me! Crazy bastard! So I'm now getting my 4th ball jointed doll... <3 Silly boy... At first I was a bit mad, but then again...he should get to spend his money how he wants... ;)

Here's my first Blythe. She's an Aston Drake redhead, most of the "true-blythists" hate ADG-Blythes, but I thinbk she's cute. I will get Takara Blythe hopefully next week, so then I can compare for real :). I think everyone who says bad things about ADG's should at least have seen one before saying anything. Like, I read from Blythe pages that ADG's have crappy hair, but well, my Laura's hair is of a better quality than Pullip or LDD hair ever, thick and nice. The head shape isn't probably as nice as Takara Blythe's, bu then again, I need to compare them in nature, pictures don't tell much.

However, what I didn't like about my ADG was the terrible make-up she had.

The lime green eye-shadow is horrible and there's much more of it in the left eye than the right and the color of her lips doesn't suit her at all, so I decided to make small changes.

Here we go. No eye-shadow, except on the eye-lids which I painted golden. Freckles (simple dots, first I tried a realistic look but it just didn't suit blythe-style, I even made eyelashes and eyebrows but no way! Blythes look better plain) and new lips, which aren't as bright as the pictures show.

I want you to meet my new boy Cain <3. He's a cerberus project sleeping minifée shiwoo. I have opened the eyes and done the face-up myself, hooray :)! I love him to bits, he's so small and easy to pose...and cute! I've ordered different eyes and a proper wig for him, but they haven't arrived yet.
